Eponine
Description
Eponine was a character who demonstrated true love. She cared more for her beloved Marius, more than she did about herself. Eponine was daughter of Thenardier. She was born into a family of criminals, but she didn't want to grow up to be like her parents. Eponine wanted to make a change in her life. Instead of becoming a criminal like everyone else in her family, she took a different path. Eponine actually wanted to do something with her life. Eponine knew that Marius was in love with Cosette, but that wasn't going to change her perspective on Marius. Eponine would do anything for Marius, even if Marius wouldn't do the same for her. Towards the end of the book when the scene at the barricade took place, Eponine showed her passion towards Marius. Marius was about to get shot, but Eponine got in the line of fire and took a bullet for Marius. Eponine fell into the arms of Marius, and died at the scene. This truly showed that Eponine was genuinely in love with Marius.
The Evolution of Eponine
In Les Miserables, Eponine made a change for herself. As i said before, Eponine was born into a family of criminals. At first, Eponine was very young, and she became involved with the crimes her family was committing. But once Eponine grew older, she finally came to her senses. She realized that if she followed the footsteps of her family, she wouldn't be successful. Instead she decided she was going to become her own person, and take her own path. Eponine changes, and falls in love. Eponine grew throughout the story, making her a dynamic character.

Eponine: Dynamic
Overall Theme
I believe that the overall theme that was represented by Eponine was true love. I think that the meaning of true love is when you care about someone else more than you do about yourself. This is how Eponine acted towards Marius. She cared for him so much that she even took a bullet for him. Eponine took the bullet, and died, but she died happy that at least her beloved Marius could live to fight another day!
Motivation
Eponine's motivation was Marius. She was in love with him. She would do anything to see him happy. Even if Marius didn't feel that way towards her, true love can not be stopped. She showed that in reality she cared more about Marius than she did about her self. Eponine was also motivated by seeing her parents fail. She saw that if she followed in their footsteps, she would end up just like them. This motivate Eponine to make a change in her lifestyle.
